With a wet end to April, the field was still empty to squeeze one last high power launch in. And what a launch it was – Tripoli Indiana Rocketry flyers put up everything from 1/2As to N5800s over the course of two days of spring flying.

USLI is an educational outreach program backed by NASA to engage university students in the design and construction of real, reusable flight vehicles designed around specific payload and performance goals. Purdue’s nascent USLI team needed to fly their sub-scale test vehicle before their design review, and Tripoli Indiana was happy to provide launch support duties for the weekend.

The December 2010 launch was pushed back a week to accommodate a huge snowstorm that blew through on the planned weekend.  And, like magic, the rescheduled weekend dawned crystal clear and calm — a perfect day to fly some rockets!  Fliers came from as far as southern Illinois and Michigan to put birds in the air.
